The Role
Lark is seeking a results-oriented Vice President of Engineering who brings strong operational expertise, coupled with strong people skills and a passion for process improvement to our fast-growing organization. The Vice President of Engineering will be a member of our Executive Team (reporting to the CTO/co-founder) and will oversee the engineering, DevOps, and quality teams ensuring internal cross-functional collaboration to support & collaborate on product strategies.
The Vice President of Engineering must be effective at leading through others, demonstrating sound strategic and analytical thinking, and maintaining good stakeholder communication internally. They must have the ability to roll up their sleeves when necessary, balanced with a high-level strategic perspective. They must lead by example with high integrity, a strong customer service focus, and with great enthusiasm for serving our customers, both patients and partners. 
 
What You’ll Do
  • Lead, inspire and develop a team of high-performing engineers. Define and implement a clear technical vision that empowers engineers and engineering leaders to make the right decisions
  • Work closely with engineering leadership (direct reports as well as CTO) on application, infrastructure, and deployment strategies
  • Foster a positive working environment (in a geographically dispersed team) to ensure high productivity and employee engagement
  • Retain, develop and hire key talent to achieve the team’s mission
  • Grow the engineering team from 60 steadily towards the 100 mark, implementing appropriate organizational structures for the team’s size along the way
  • Cultivate a “product-driven development” mentality that seamlessly integrates engineering and product initiatives/goals through strong collaboration; in particular, ensuring clear explanation/advocacy of the business value of engineering goals (ie, not creating silos between departments, but team unity)
  • Develop a strong “build for production” mentality, ensuring engineering ownership/responsibility over code that is developed in all aspects 
What You’ll Need

  • Solid planning, organizational, and project management skills with the ability to multi-task and assimilate new information quickly and make difficult decisions
  • Ability to work and adapt to multiple types of personalities; have a team-first orientation, yet be self-driven; must be kind, listen, and be a clear communicator
  • Humble, intelligent, honest, open, and transparent with an executive presence who likes to have fun
  • 10+ years in a technology & engineering leadership role
Working at Lark
Lark offers the option to work remotely in the United States.  For Colorado Applicants only: minimum annual salary is $206,000 (minimum salary varies for other geographies). You may also be offered a bonus, stock options and/or benefits.  The company is headquartered in Mountain View, CA.
